Hybrid Hits Up A Moto

When it starts to get below freezing and you have a windchill factor that will freeze you like a popsicle where do you go ride? Elaine Derrick of Promoto Promotions has you covered at the Clark County indoor arena. With a full event schedule that lasts fall all through winter hundreds of riders flock to Clark County indoor for the chance to compete as well as practice.

We made it out to a practice and race event to support our Hybrid sponsored rider Mark Studebaker (#343) we were hoping to get more footage or Mark himself but filming an event like this was a little more chaotic then we had planned for. With several motos happening very quickly setting up for shots at multiple angles can get tricky. Luckily we had a full support from our Hybrid team, with filming support from Jared Cooper, Kyle Tomita, Cyntia Cooper and Kelly Nation getting footage was easier to manage. Kyle Tomita and John Cooper also helped get some photography of the event.

Very soon we will be shooting a rider profile video for Mark Studebaker so keep an eye out!

P.A.R.C. Full of Drift

One of the last local drift events of the year, PARC Full of Drift was another fun-filled Sunday slide session. The conditions were good, though cold; most were bundled up in layers of hoodies and jackets. Kyle Pollard (Formula D Driver) made it out to test his car in a few good shakedown runs, and the turnout was solid.

There aren't too many places like PARC (Pat's Acres Racing Complex). The Canby, OR kart track has been used for many things, but only for the past year have you been able to hear the sounds of turbo 4-cylinders with a few sixes and eights blipping their way around the course sideways.

Our videographer Loren Haleston has been capturing many of the PARC events to date on video, but this time Jared Cooper decided to take a spin behind the lens! Armed with a Canon 5D and Final Cut Pro, Jared braved the cold to get some quality footage and put it together in an impressive first showing.

MalikCo is one of our latest high-profile clients. We've recently been working hard to finish up their custom website, which is a massive improvement on the old one. The focus is on design; we needed to create a clean, high-end business style site for MalikCo to give clients a quality showing.

Our graphic artist John created the design from scratch using Photoshop. We use Adobe programs for many of our projects. Photoshop for layouts and compositions, Illustrator for logos and some graphic designs and even Premiere Pro for some of our video editing!

Our goal was to create a high-end look with impactful imagery and well-written text. We're pleased with the outcome, and MalikCo is very excited to go live with the new site!

Shooting The STI

As a full-service digital creative agency we offer a broad range of services. One area we've recently added is the realm of multimedia. Our team boasts multiple skilled photographers, a top-end videographer who knows his trade better than the back of his hand and several aspiring videographers who show great promise.

Our involvement in motorsports often leads to event media coverage and car photoshoots. Many of these take place in the Pacific Northwest, but we have recently done media work in Las Vegas and Los Angeles as well. We plan to branch out more next year, increasing our media exposure and workload.

Recently we were given the opportunity to shoot this gorgeous 2009 STI in a local setting. Sunday afternoon proved a great time for the shoot, and the season is perfect; falling leaves add a certain magic to the scene, providing additional viewer interest.

When you're shooting a car it's important to cater to your subject's traits; particularly the look and feel. This STI has a dark, elegant appearance which demands the same of it's surroundings. In a brightly-colored setting it would look garish and out of place, so with placement and post-processing we created a soft-toned, muted scene around the car.

Hybrid celebrates the life and mourns the death of a revolutionary hero. Steve Jobs guided the technology industry over new horizons and uncharted territory. He brought the future to the masses with revolutionary devices which changed the face of consumer tech forever. It started with a personal computer and ended with an iconic line of devices. His palpable legacy consists of some of the most impressive computers on the market, a miracle tablet you would expect to see in a Sci-Fi movie and a smart phone which continues to redefine the standard of the industry it launched. Beyond the material, Steve Jobs was a great inspiration to the world, and we are no exception. We owe much of our success to him, his efforts and his philosophy.

We live in a world of ever-changing product lines and interfaces. Here at Hybrid we appreciate technology of all kinds, regularly working with new devices to ensure their compatibility as well as to develop new ideas and projects. We’ve developed various mobile apps, and much of our work is performed on Apple products. The Hybrid team uses iPhones, iPads, Macs/MacBooks and other Apple products for many of our projects, and we truly appreciate the level of quality built into these devices.

An inspiration to all, hero to many, father to four and husband to one, Steve Jobs will be sorely missed around the globe. Rest in peace, Steve. Thank you for everything.

Putting The D In PDX Mini

A recent project of ours has been creating a website for PDX Mini, a Portland-based car club for Mini owners. They want to create a online community destination for club members to post pictures, buy and sell cars and see what's going on. We just finished designing the site layout and they love it!

One of the benefits of working with Hybrid is choice. When we design something we create multiple versions based on your preferences. You then get the opportunity to compare the designs, collect feedback from your colleagues, then tell us which you prefer and what changes need to be made. Rendering a Piece of History

Upon request we flew our rendering artist John out to Oahu to explore the historical buildings on Makai Ranch/Kahuku Marconi wireless station, where the birth of the wireless telegraphy was embraced. He spent 3 months surveying Jeremiah III Henderson's property on the North Shore. John took lots of photos throughout the property, getting well acquainted with the RCA building.

Once he had finished collecting shots with a variety of angles and rooms, John got to work. He designed each piece of the RCA building in 3D, even including such details as the shingles on the angled roof surfaces. His tools of choice were SolidWorks, 3ds Max and V-Ray for final rendering.

Jeremiah Henderson's goal is to show investors the potential these buildings have when completely restored. It may take some work, but the end result is impressive!

John, upon model completion: "In all honesty this was one of my most favored projects. To see this rundown facility restored with 3ds Max & V-Ray was breath taking."

Seeing these renderings only fueled Jeremiah's determination with this project. He knew it had potential, and now he can begin envisioning specific possibilites for the property.

Jeremiah's plan is not only to restore these historical buildings but to develop the land to an agricultural paradise with resources such as windmill energy. His approach is to make good use of environmentally friendly materials and resources.

John's rendering allows viewers to truly see the value in the history of this land. What began as a communication building in the age of the telegraph can now undergo a transformation to become something new and relevant once more.

One of our Hermosa Beach clients, Silvio's Brazilian BBQ, recently decided to step up their online presence. Their delicious food and drink offerings bring authentic Brazilian flavor to a family BBQ setting; an inviting combination which works wonders.

Silvio's commissioned Hybrid for a video and custom website complete and we are proud to deliver! This unique restaurant's new website will be complete with food and drink menus and a custom CMS (content management system) which will allow easy updating and maintenance. The video was shot by Hybrid videographer Loren Haleston on-location during our recent video tour.

Video: Hybrid Games Keeps it's Eye on the Prize

Loren Haleston & Hybrid Games present Eyeprize Machines! We've partnered with Eyeprize in developing two brand new video games for their revolutionary touch-screen arcade system. (click here for game information)

Our latest project with Eyeprize was a video to showcase their machines running our games. Members of the Hybrid team headed to Santa Barbara to meet with Eyeprize owners Aaron Pelto and Doug Nelson. Loren Haleston was the lead videographer for this impressive piece which features both Hybrid Games' titles - Saving Planet Blearth and Ball Slice. The video was shot at Zodo's bowling alley in Goleta, which provided a nice ambiance for the setting.

Hybrid Tones It Up!

Hybrid recently met with Tone It Up to shoot some video content and talk business.

One of the most recent projects we've worked on with Tone It Up is their online community. Karena and Katrina wanted to make a social community to help their fans better reach their fitness goals. The idea is that community involvement creates a more supportive network of people who can help each other and up the bar.

The TIU community has done very well so far; it already boasts nearly 10,000 members, and we will be implementing new features to help users interact and Tone It Up! Stay tuned for the upcoming feature video!

We recently met with Silvio Correa, co-founder of Silvio's Brazilian BBQ in Hermosa Beach to talk business and shoot a feature video of his restaurant.

Silvio's Brazilian BBQ is a delectable delight nestled on the coast of Southern California. The company was founded in 2003 by long time friends Doug Howarth and "Grill Master" Silvio Correa. Silvio's began as a catering company that specialized in authentic family-style BBQ, but soon expanded to food vending at sporting events, street festivals, and music festivals throughout California.

Hot Line Performance

During our video tour last week the Hybrid team stopped by Hot Line Performance, a full service shop owned and run by Justin Pawlak. Hot Line is located in Gardena California and specializes in RX7 applications.

The shop provides a full range of services, from high-end street applications to complete race builds. If you look closely you can see a 350Z which is being prepped as a competition drift car.

One of the shop's flagship cars is Justin's personal FD RX7. Though Hot Line specializes in RX7s, rotaries and drift setups it is fully equipped for virtually any task and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable!

Justin kept it clean; beyond adding a front lip and some bronze Volk TE37s, the exterior is simple OEM. Since it serves as his daily driver, nothing crazy is required - just a beautiful, clean ride.

Eyeprize Machines

Loren Haleston and other members of the Hybrid Team were at the Eyeprize headquarters recently to film a video about these special machines. Eyeprize machines run software created by Hybrid's new department, Hybrid Games!

Hybrid Games is our new department for developing video games. We use a variety of game engines and develop games for virtually any platform including PC, arcade, mobile and console! If you have an idea for a game we can make it; contact us for a free quote to get your idea rolling.

Eyeprize machines come pre-loaded with 2 titles developed by Hybrid Games; Saving Planet Blearth and Ball Slice. Both are designed specifically for the Eyeprize and it's touch-screen system.

Saving Planet Blearth is centered around a group of aliens which have been kidnapped by robots. It's the player's mission to rescue the aliens from the clutches of the robots. In Ball Slice, the player attempts to "slice" open ball-shaped containment units, avoiding the bombs. Kids can choose either game, then play to win a prize and rack up points!

Formula Drift Vegas - After Dark

Loren Haleston has done it again! Formula Drift Round 6 was held in Las Vegas, and boy was it exciting! Fast driving, amazing lighting and brutal carnage run rampant on a yearly basis at this event, creating a unique media opportunity. Aspiring videographers are either enticed or intimidated by the night lighting and intense heat, and our Loren Haleston braved both to capture what is arguably some of his best footage yet!

The video was filmed by Loren Haleston, and produced by Hybrid Industries and Canibeat.

Loren used some fun theatrical text for the intro.

The video features several shots of Kyle Pollard, one of the few Formula Drift drivers from Portland, Oregon! Several of the Hybrid team members were in the stands cheering for Kyle.

The Condo Viva Las Vegas

When Jeremy Henderson asked us to help him sell his Vegas condo, we knew exactly who to put on the job.

Loren Haleston had already planned a trip out to Vegas to shoot Formula Drift Round 6, so we asked if he would stay a bit longer and shoot Jeremy's condo. Loren has a great eye for video and we love working with him! He's always interesting in filming new things and bringing them into the public eye.

The condo is owned by Jeremiah H Henderson, who recently remodeled the entire unit with fashionable high-end accountrements. The level of detail and quality is unbelievable, so if you're in the market please stop by!

National Vollyball League Website

As we mentioned earlier, we've been working on a new site design for the NVL - National Vollyball League. The NVL is dedicated to their mission of organizing a world-class beach vollyball tournament and bringing the sport to the fans while cultivating the vollyball lifestyle. Their goal is to create a powerful fan/player interaction through media and community support while bringing vollyball into its own as a professional, major-league sport.

After working hard to ensure satisfaction for all, Hybrid Industries is proud to announce that the new NVLwebsite will be live this week!

The NVL staff wanted an updated look and feel and various functionality improvements; the results speak for themselves. The fresh new look will give the NVL an online facelift, with a more agressive and high-end appearance. Hybrid made sure to include much of the current site's function while updating everything and making improvements where needed.

Loren Shoots Formula Drift Seattle

PQMRA Regionals

Working with a wide variety of clients gives us the opportunity to do some really unique things. Yesterday Hybrid was given pit passes to the Portland Quarter Midget Racing Association (PQMRA) regional event at the Alpenrose race track. Though we take an active role in various motorsports, we had never been to a quarter midget race before and didn't really know what to expect.

The race was more fun than we could have imagined! Kids from 4 to 17 years old hit the track in 1/4-scale Midget race cars with four wheel independant suspension and 120-150cc engines. Speeds went up to 40mph+ and there were some intense crashes, though the roll cages did their job and there nobody was hurt.

We brought our videographer Loren Haleston and his father Mark along to shoot media. They worked every available angle and we can't wait to see what they come up with after some editing!

We also took some photos which will be used on the new PQMRA website! Kyle Tomita (above) and Jared Cooper both shot pictures throughout the day.

Formula Drift Round 5 - Aftermath

This weekend the Hybrid team attended the biggest Northwest drift event of the year: Formula Drift Round 5 / ProAm Round 3 at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. It was a combined event with both Pro and ProAm drivers competing for their respective series titles, and it was intense! Jared, Cyntia, Michael and Kyle all came to spectate and support our drivers Andrew Coomes and Justin Pawlak. Our videographer Loren Haleston was also in attendance, as he and his father were shooting media for the event!

Justin Pawlak (JTP) lined up against competitor Ryan Tuerck at the starting line. Justin was looking great in practice and qualifying on Friday and we cheered him on during Saturday's competition.

Justin leads Conrad Grunewald around the bank. Unfortunately Justin didn't win his top 16 battle due to clutch failure, and was bumped down to 2nd place in the season standings. He'll be back for more action at round 6 in Las Vegas, so be sure to check him out at the event and/or on livestream, and watch justinpawlak.com for updates!

Andrew Coomes was looking solid throughout the ProAm practice and qualifying.

Sadly, Andrew suffered a mechanical failure during his first tandem elimination run; his wheel came off early in the run and he hit the wall hard, ending his weekend a bit early. His 2nd place qualification points were enough to move him into the #1 spot for the ProAm Championship season, however, with two more events to go!

This weekend Hybrid is visiting Monroe, Washington for Formula Drift Round 5 and ProAm Round 3! Justin Pawlak is driving in the Formula Drift Pro Championship event, and Hybrid's own Andrew Coomes is driving in the ProAm Championship event. We will be there to support our drivers as they push for victory! Justin is sitting in 1st place on the 2011 Pro Championship standings, and Andrew is in 2nd on the Northwest ProAm circuit.

Today in practice and qualifying our drivers looked solid, and they both took the #2 qualifying spot in their respective events! We look forward to seeing them drive in the big show tomorrow.

Justin Pawlak is a driver in the Formula Drift professional drifting series. Over the years he has become a force to be reckoned with, moving up the ranks from privateer to sponsored driver to ASD/Falken team driver. Justin is currently sitting in first place in the Formula Drift 2011 Championship standings, piloting his ASD Falken Mustang to victory at two of four rounds this year!

Hybrid recently reached out to Justin as a potential sponsor. His current site is in dire need of a redesign and we extended our services for a completely new site and custom CMS back-end. Hybrid Driver Featured On Motor Mavens

Hybrid sponsored driver Andrew Coomes was recently given a rare opportunity. His shop sponsor PSI (Portland Speed Industries - also a Hybrid client) booked a private rental of the Hampton Lumber Mill in Packwood, Washington for a customer appreciation day. Shop owner Jason Oefelein also invited Formula Drift pro driver Justin Pawlak up for the weekend to give Andrew some coaching at both Packwood and Pacific Grand Prix (PGP), which took place the following day. The above video was shot by YAER productions and featured on MotorMavens, a popular car culture site.

Andrew has been a Hybrid sponsored driver since the beginning of last year, and works with the Hybrid team to improve client relations when he's not driving. We designed his website and many of his promotional materials, and he represents us with professionalism and a positive outlook. His driving program has improved drastically since the beginning of our partnership; Hybrid-designed t-shirts, hero cards, business cards and a partnership proposal have all contributed to his growing success.

As we mentioned in a previous blog entry lately we have been doing a lot of work lately in Hermosa Beach. Silvios Brazilian BBQ (located right on the beach) is one of the clients we are very excited to work with. Silvios reached out to us just before our last trip out to Hermosa, and we have already began working on layout designs with owners Silvio and Doug. Games With Unity

Hybrid is pleased to announce that we are now producing video games with the Unity engine in addition to Torque Game Builder. Unity is another powerful game engine, most commonly used in 3D applications. Games such as Drift Mania Championship and OMG Pirates! for iOS and Battlestar Galactica, Sky Legends and Sucker Punch for the web were created with the Unity engine. Apple CEO and Co-Founder Steve Jobs featured the Unity-based ROMA Virtual History at the iPad 2 release, and the engine now boasts over 500,000 developers. We are very excited to be working with this engine; keep an eye out for Hybrid games with Unity!

Golden West Billiards Shoot

Today we headed over to Golden West Billiards for a video shoot with Loren Haleston, Hybrid's newest team member! Jared, Kyle and Andrew were also in attendance, taking photos and working with Loren to get the best footage possible. By the end of the day we had a lot of great video to work with!

Tone It Up is an all-in-one fitness lifestyle guide lead by Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson. They have over 50,000 members and 23,000 fans on facebook, and their website has everything from recipes and diet plans to workout tips and videos. These two women approached Hybrid with a desire for more control over their site content and an online store. We weren't satisfied with the user control in Wordpress so we created a custom version of our Hybrid CMS (content management system) for them, providing full control of the site and store from one place. Mill City Mayhem Photoshoot

Recently we took a Saturday off to help out our favorite roller derby league, Mill City Mayhem! When we were building their website we couldn't help but notice the need for quality photography so we scheduled a day with them to journey up to Longview, WA and do a photoshoot to kick off the new website. All the photography was done by team members Kyle and Jared along with Cyntia to help set the girls up and get the right angles for Kyle. We did individual photos for each girls profile pages as well as group shots and general wackiness.

We had some great props to work like this old car to really make the shoot a fun experience for everyone.

OMRA Offroad Custom CMS and Website Redesign

This project began as a functionality upgrade to add membership functionality. They wanted to be able to allow users to purchase memberships and review their account. On the backend, this functionality provides the governing members to be able to track and maintain their member group better. Their previous site was a static site without a content management system, which was hard to maintain. We provided them with a custom CMS that would allow for easy updating of the content on the page. The previous site was maintained by one member, which was difficult with the large amount of events and activities that OMRA holds. A benefit of the CMS is the abilty to have multiple contributors so that the workload is spread out. While we were performing the functionality upgrade and CMS integration, we also tweaked the design.

The site holds a lot of content and therefore it looks cluttered. There was no real theme or style. The colors and textures used gave the site a very basic feel. The website was designed primary with tables, which is not the way tables were designed to be used. The tables also hindered search engine optimization. The sponsor banners clutter the top and detract from the site. With our redesign, we wanted to obviously keep the sponsor banners but utilize them in a way to enhance the page.

The main focus of our design was to clear up the clutter of advertisements and content. We also wanted to add design elements like the background image and slideshow. The sponsor banners were separated and made to integrate into the page better. The color scheme was also changed to remove the different shades of green and the other textures. The site looks a lot more professional and helps to bring their website up to speed with the caliber of the OMRA Offroad organization.

The International Website Design

Hybrid Industries not only services the United States but has branched out across the world. Lately we have been working on a few sites for international clients. One of those sites was a website for The International Bar & Grille located in Angeles City, Philippines. A member from our team travelled out to the Philippines for an onsite meeting to tour the facilities and begin on some design layouts.

The following is the final design layout that was chosen by the client.

This design layout was chosen because the simple and elegant design. The client wanted a website that would reflect his restaurant. The site will be live at http://theinternational.ph

The International Bar & Grille website features a custom designed layout and Hybrid's own content management system (CMS). The CMS is an integral part of this new website because of the ease of updating content by the client. The site can be updated and maintained by the client without further intervention from Hybrid. However, Hybrid does offer support packages that include maintenance and minor tweaks to design for a monthly fee.

Also in international news from Hybrid, we will soon be releasing an international version of our own site to be in Spanish. Soon after the Spanish version is released, we will be working toward expanding to the international market with sites in other major languages.

Mill City Mayhem Website Design

Hybrid Industries is proud to sponsor the Mill City Mayhem Roller Derby. The Mill City Mayhem is the newest addition to the world of women's flat track roller derby. They are local Pacific Northwest organization based in Cowlitz County, WA.

As a sponsor, Hybrid will being helping out with what we do best, the website. After our first initial meeting with the founders and a few of the roller derby girls, we began designing mockup layouts. From the designs provided, they chose this one:

They felt this design best represents the organization as a whole and what they stand for. The goal of Mill City Mayhem is to create an entertaining organization that focuses on empowering women, while giving back to the community. With the design chosen, we will begin working on creating this website for them. The website design will be backed by our content management system that will ease in the uploading and maintaining of data. They will be able to easily keep it up to date with new events, standings, and competitors.

As part of their sponsorship package, Hybrid worked with Mill City Mayhem to create promotional material to help promote this up and coming organization. One part that we have delivered to them was a vectorized file of their color pencil drawn logo. Our graphic artists closely drew the image on the computer.

The vectorized version of their logo makes it easier to create future promotional material. The file will be used in the website design, paperwork, clothing, and other merchandise.

Hybrid WebHost our newly released web hosting site, will be providing hosting for the Mill City Mayhem. The currently in development site will soon be available at http://millcitymayhem.com. We are working hard to complete their website by the end of the month because the Mill City Mayhem will hosting a benefit fundraiser on the first of April, at Las Rocas in Longview, WA. Lost In Work

It can be very easy to get so caught up in work for clients that your own company work & maintenance can suffer. As has been the case with our Hybrid blog. The adage of the Cobbler comes to mind very clearly as in our case, so we're going to strap on some new shoes and get back to blogging for 2011. We have got the chance to work with many clients as well grow and expand exponentially over the last year. We are very excited to share the news with you over the next few weeks as we play catch up with our blog. We thank you very much for the patience you have shown with us as we get back on the blogging wagon and actually start communicating once again.

So, to answer the questions we've been getting:

Q: Some of your websites blogs and updates are almost a year OLD... Are you still in business?

A: Yes. Very much so, we have been buried with clients and projects this past year and as you can imagine, updates can be the last thing on your mind when pulling all-nighter after all-nighter for so long. You can rest assure we aren't going anywhere. We have been building websites for over eight years and will continue to do so.

Q; When will there be updates to your website portfolio?

A: Soon, very soon. We will be updating our portfolio over the next few weeks to include some of the latest projects we have done as well adding more functionality and adding case studies to our website.

Q; Do you have time for my project?

A: Yes, we do. One of the most exciting additions that we've had to Hybrid over the last year is an increase in staff and we have widened our network of industry professionals to increase our bandwidth and allow us to work with more clients then we ever have in the past.

Radium Engineering Design

We recently have put together a layout design for Radium Engineering a client in Portland, OR. This is the working prototype we are working on with the folks at Radium sometimes layouts significantly change while in the revision process before any code is actually written, often times though the end result very closely matches the prototype layout. The next post we do about Radium will have a link to the final website coded and online.

We are going to putting their website into our new Hybrid Content Management system to allow Radium to manage content without any hassle. We are very eager to begin putting the site into code so Radium can start out with a strong online presence.

Fighting The Good Fight

If you read any kind of blogs or own an Apple mobile device such as the iPhone or iPad then surely you are familiar with the ongoing conflict between Apple and Adobe on allowing flash player to run on Apple's devices. What we are doing here at Hybrid is continuing to make flash websites with all the cool effects people love (when relevant, surely you wouldn't use flash for E-commerce) and also making alternate versions of the same site in HTML and jQuery to allow Google to spider the website's content and also to allow mobile devices to view the content.

We are using JavaScript to run a detect script upon opening the website to detect if the viewer has flash player installed on their machine, if they don't they are simply redirected over to the HTML site and they have no knowledge the flash site even exists. Pretty cool huh?

PSI Flash Website Redesign

Two years ago we designed PSI a custom flash website that was built in ActionScript 2 and featured 3d modeling of the PSI Shop and was innovative at the time. Since building the first website we have moved into Flash ActionScript 3 and have majorly improved on the level of 3d modeling we can produce in-house. The first thing you will notice about the new website is that you have an enter page that lets you choose which portal you would like to be taken to The Blog, The Store and the Flash site. What if I'm bringing up the site on a mobile device? We have a redirect script that detects if you have flash player installed on your device if not your automatically redirected to the HTML version of the site. Jason Oefelein, Co-Owner of PSI is always stepping up their online presence with the latest technology and available and never cuts corners when it comes to quality. Unhappy with the previous video gallery Jason decided he wanted to go full HD, the best way to bring HD Video to their clients while maintaining quality and speed seemed to be going with Vimeo.

Vimeo has recently been a powerful contender with YouTube in providing video channels for various video bloggers and companies alike. J Henderson Logo Redesign

In a long series of re-branding J Henderson Company and Partnering companies we have redesigned J Henderson's logo to accommodate the new style of the other companies websites (HNV, Galt Valley, Makai). As you can see we went with a much more clean approach and used vibrant colors to draw your attention and utilize the family crest. Recently we setup for a PSI a Flash XML based gallery for clients to see some of the work they can do. With an XML based gallery management system in place its very easy for PSI staff to maintain the gallery keeping content fresh for viewers. Adding this increased the average time on the website to 30 seconds which is a pretty good increase in the analytics world.

3D Rendering Vegas Style

J Henderson Company recently purchased a condo in Las Vegas at the Panaroma Tower #3 across from City Center off the strip and started construction and were having a hard time communicating with the contractors so we put our modeling skills to use and helped them out. John Cooper our 3D Architect took over and produced what you see within a matter of a few hours. This helped immensely to show the contractors what Mr. Henderson had envisioned. I recently was able to see the condo in person and had a bit of Deja Vu lol somehow John was able to even get the exact angle of the view from the condo into the render. Pretty impressive indeed.

As mentioned previously we have been working with Kayla Collins (Playboy Playmate) to redesign her a new website for her fans. We recently took on designing a website for a local bridal shop here in Portland. Sophie Chang is a very talented couture dress designer and we were very honored when she told us she selected us from hundreds of other web designers she looked at. At first entering her shop I was very impressed at the level of detail and class her shop had. I immediately knew that her website was going to need a wide angle shot of the showroom as you first see it when you walk in the door. Kyle Tomita our newest member of the team came and got beautiful shots of the showroom and some of her dresses. Keep an eye out for her website, we will post in our blog when its been completed. Her official grand opening is February 5th so we have an aggressive time line to get the site custom flash site completed. We are confident however that we will make it well within the deadline. We are very happy to have Kyle's talent on the Hybrid design team.

Moving Del Sol Racks into Wordpress

Del Sol Racks has been a client of ours for a few years now, and this week we gave them a face lift and moved the website into a much easier to manage wordpress backend with a custom theme. With the new website Carlos can log in to the easy manage wordpress administration and update the news blog, allow clients to leave testimonials, update people on upcoming events and link to their online store. Originally the first website we did for them was a custom design in HTML and CSS with a PHP MYSQL based backend administration system. The old system got the job done but was not as intuitive as Carlos liked, so we moved him to wordpress as it is a much easier to manage system for your standard user. We did this as a free courtesy to Del Sol Racks for being such a loyal customer these last two years. The original online store and still currently their ecommerce was done in CubeCart, we have found this also to inefficient as a selling solution. Our next step will be to move them out of CubeCart into Pinnacle Cart a much more robust, more intuitive system. We will be designing them a custom theme with Pinnacle as well. What's New for 2010

Lots of new development and projects underway for 2010, the first of which that we are the most excited about is the new iPhone apps we are developing. Keep an eye out for them in the app store, we are also very excited to offer professional photography to our clients through Kyle Tomita. Kyle does all of the photography for PSI, if you have followed their blog and seen some amazing photography it was Kyle's. We are also moving much closer to launching our sister company and clothing line Havok Clothing Co. We are sponsoring a few pro motocross riders and professional drifters to help market the company. Keep an eye for Havok its going to be coming up very quickly! 2010 is going to be a very exciting year for us and anyone else along for the ride.

funny people yet? If not be sure to rent it, one of the better movies of 2009. In the movie Adam Sandler takes Seth Rogen to a $300,000 paid Myspace gig where Seth has to do some Myspace standup humor, in the skit he walks through how a fight would go if Tom Anderson from Myspace were to throw down Craig Newmark from Craigslist. Very funny be sure to watch the skit in the video embed above. Sandler also makes the comment “They say the more friends you have on MySpace the less friends you have in real life.” funny and true at the same time lol.

Just today I was speaking with a client and we were discussing how flash websites won't come up in the iPhone and how sad it is that there isn't a flash player yet for the iPhone. Most HTML websites if w3C compliant will be decently viewable on a smart phone. However most websites are simply not formatted for the dimensions you view them on your phone. It's like watching a 16:9 ratio movie on a 19" tv with a 4:3 ratio screen, its viewable... but not the same experience. Wordpress is your most popular solution for blogs these days, probably because its simple to maintain, has thousands of preset themes available and is very open source to developers and designers a like. So why am I bringing up WordPress as cool as it is? Because its also your most affordable solution to a mobile website that can be viewed on a smart phone as if your using an app. The best thing about it is you don't have to compromise your web version with your mobile version. The WordPress mobile plugin simply recognizes the site is being viewed on a mobile device and delivers the content in another format. How Google Works

Google's algorithm for many is a mystery, no one really knows the secret blend Google looks for exactly but everyone wants their website at the top spot. Google will basically sort websites by how relevant they are and rank websites by what Google deems optimal. This range can be everything from page title, number of link backs and original content. This overall score is looked by Google comparing the relevancy of your web page with the search phrase entered into a Google search. This will determine how your website will rank against your competition. Google uses programs referred to as spiders to collect information from websites. These spiders will crawl the entire internet, jumping from website to website through hyperlinks while collecting data as they crawl. Next Google takes the acquired information to decide if its relevant to be placed in the results and where it ranks. Sounds a little Matrix I know! Google however does not just add every website it spiders into the results, this would decrease relevancy which is Google's central philosophy. Ever since Google came to the web in 1997 it has been out about relevant search results and keeping things simple 12 years later this still remains Google's core. Google has always been a simple search box, but there is much more than meets the eye, the power of Google is what's found behind the search box.

HD Video Streaming for PSI

PSI has been a client of ours for the last few years and right now we are working on creating an online video presence for them in full HD with live streaming and an HD video gallery. The main area of focus is full 1080p HD with the options of down-scaling to 720, 480 and lower compression rates if the website visitor wishes. We are also looking into detecting the internet speed of visitors computer and determining by their connection which will be default resolution for viewing video. ERA Skateboards Website Almost Complete

About a month ago we started development on a custom flash website for ERA Skateboards, a local Portland Skateboard manufacturer. The main goal for this website was to make it fast, sleek and sexy. Pool Tables Direct Website Completed

After 4 months of hard work we are proud to present the Pool Tables Direct E-Commerce store. With over 500 products in a custom built Pinnacle Cart theme we developed, Pool Tables Direct now has a fresh face and a new image for their company. When Marq Sears of Greenleaf Billiards came to us he desperately needed a re-branding of his company we took action right away to come up with a fresh look for the company. Countless designs and revisions later we were ready for development. The E-Commerce solution we chose was Pinnacle Cart, due to their simple to use back-end administration and their clean easy to modify PHP scripting. We also designed them a custom wordpress blog to maximize their presence on google (1st page, of google under pool tables). Once everything was in place they also opted for us to input their products for them on initial launch with 500 products and hours of product image touch ups we were able to accomplish this within a few weeks.
